1. Why is being a King-Morgridge Scholar important to you?
Growing up in a low-income family, I lacked many academic opportunities. Becoming a King-Morgridge Scholar has been a turning point in my education. Along with access to a renowned education, the KMS program connects me with people and opportunities that empower me to transform more lives through education.
2. Are there specific issues in poverty alleviation or development that you would like to work on or are currently addressing?
I collaborate with Brazilian organizations working to democratize quality education for underprivileged students, aiming to alleviate poverty and reduce inequalities. I believe education is key to transforming Brazil’s political, economic, and social sectors. Through my studies, I seek to expand my efforts to support the development of Brazil’s educational system.
3. What is a fun fact about your hometown?
My city sits on an extinct volcano, which we jokingly say explains the legendary heat.
4. What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy reading and meeting new people. Like books, each person brings a new perspective on life.
5. What is something you are passionate about?
I am passionate about education and how it transforms lives and shapes identities.
