Q and A with Ryan
1. Are there specific issues in poverty alleviation or development that you would like to work on or are currently addressing?
I came to Madison, fascinated with the capacity to work with semiconductors and energy efficiency here and aiming to use the development of these technologies to engineer solutions in clean energy production and distribution for river communities across Brazil that suffer from the effects of polluting energy.
2. Why is being a King-Morgridge Scholar important to you?
It enables me to connect not only with the current themes in global development but also empowers me with a network of dedicated young leaders and experienced professionals with aligned goals. Being a King-Morgridge Scholar is a glimpse of inspiration and excellence to our countries about the limits of efforts to poverty alleviation.
3. What is a fun fact about your hometown?
Recife has the greatest Carnival in the world! With so many rivers we are known as the Brazilian Venice, a great city for rowing!
4. What do you like to do in your free time?
I got into my “analog” moment so I love to crate-digging vinyls and take photos of my friends with film cameras.
